Chapter 46 - Evil
She nodded coldly. “Onion doesn’t like strangers getting close to it.”
Zhou Zhu was stunned. He thought He Miao would deny it and did not expect such a straightforward reaction. He pursed his lips and sat beside her, feeling wronged. “Miss He, I heard from your father that you’re He Miao? Can I just call you Miaomiao?”
Onion was about to bite him again when He Miao stopped it. She covered Onion’s mouth and reminded him expressionlessly, “Young Master Zhou, we’re not family.”
He Miao’s distant attitude was very obvious, which made Jing Yan raise his paw and pat her palm in satisfaction.
He Miao thought it wanted more steak and was about to get up to get another plate, but Zhou Zhu politely asked her to sit down. He diligently went to the other table and brought back a plate of first-class steak.
Jing Yan turned his head away in disgust. He refused to eat the steak that this man had personally served him.
Halfway through the party, it was time for the various families to gather and invite each other to dance.
Zhou Zhu wanted to make a gentleman’s bow and invite He Miao, but she was concerned about the mad dog in her arms, so he stood a little further away and smiled ingratiatingly. “Miss He, would you be willing to dance with me?”
“No, I’m not.”
Before He Miao could reject him, He Feng walked over and interrupted her. “She’s willing.”
He had been observing the situation and naturally saw He Miao’s cold expression. He was very dissatisfied with her attitude. If he could not make Zhou Zhu happy tonight, how could his father agree to help with the money?
He Miao looked up and saw her father’s angry eyes. She sighed heavily in her heart. It looked like she would have to think of a way to start making perfumes when she went to school tomorrow. She did not want to be manipulated like tonight again.
He Miao gently placed Onion on the chair and stroked its head. She coaxed it softly, “Wait for me here, okay? I’ll be back soon, so don’t run around.”
She was still worried, so she asked the waiter passing by to look after Onion for her. Then she took Zhou Zhu’s hand expressionlessly and walked to the dance floor with him.
The beautiful waltz music played throughout the banquet hall.
He Miao used to attend such parties often, so she was very familiar with the dances of the upper-class. When she danced, she was like a fairy dancing on the stage, so beautiful that people could not take their eyes off her.
Zhou Zhu finally hugged the beauty, and the corners of his mouth were so wide that they almost reached his ears. His face was red, and his eyes were shining with determination to win the woman in his arms.
He Feng was very satisfied with He Miao’s cooperation. He raised his glass and clinked it with Zhou Cheng’s in a low voice. Intentionally or otherwise, he brought up his business difficulties.
Zhou Cheng saw that his son really liked He Miao and was happy to do him this favor, so he promised with a smile.
At the end of the song, everyone was satisfied. Only Jing Yan gritted his teeth and glared at He Miao, who was dancing intimately with another man.
He Miao rejected Zhou Zhu’s invitation to dance again. She walked back to her seat and saw that Onion was obediently lying on the chair and not running around. He Miao was pleasantly surprised and wanted to hug it. Who knew that Onion would actually be so awkward? He turned his head away and did not let He Miao touch it.
He Miao retracted her hand in embarrassment. Taking into account its injuries, she had no choice but to sit on the chair beside it.
Zhou Zhu would not let go of any opportunity to get close to He Miao. He was not angry when he was rejected, but instead felt that she had a personality. He stuck to her, his arms nervously resting on the back of He Miao’s chair, wishing he could immediately pull her into his arms.
Jing Yan narrowed his eyes and stared at the man who was more annoying than a fly. He suddenly endured the pain and jumped onto the table. He raised his head arrogantly, reached out his paw, and pushed the red wine off the table.
Zhou Zhu was staring fixedly at He Miao’s side profile, and was caught off guard by the red wine that had been pushed over. His white shirt was stained with wine, and even his pants were not spared, dripping wet.
He stood up in anger and was about to grab the dog to teach it a lesson, but before he could do anything, Jing Yan jumped into He Miao’s arms and glared at Zhou Zhu with a smug look.
‘You stupid dog!’ Zhou Zhu swallowed the words he wanted to say to the dog. He met He Miao’s cold eyes and did not dare to say another word.
‘D*mn dog, if He Miao didn’t dote on you, I would skin you tonight and boil you for soup!’
