Chapter 63 - 63 Weekend Off
Ever since He Wei had brought her back, she had never stepped into He Miao’s room. The so-called sisterly love was just a show in the Jing family.
He Miao, however, did not mind. She had long known what kind of character this family had. After transmigrating, she had never hoped for kinship.
She was bored staying in the house, so she fed the little guy a few pieces of dried meat and watched it fill its stomach. Then she limped to the desk and picked up a pen to write down the perfume and dressing ingredients she had developed before.
She picked a set of relatively simple but elegant perfume ingredients and prepared to show it to Professor Xu when she had the chance to go to school.
The major of fragrances and perfumes was not an ordinary major that was confined to textbooks. Theoretical knowledge was only the start. The important part was definitely hands-on experiments. Such a major naturally could not avoid large-scale competitions.
He Miao was not interested in fame and fortune, but the rich prize money.
She was too short of money now. Without money, she could not leave the He family and live alone.
A rhythmic knock suddenly sounded on the door. He Miao kept the formula in her hand and put it in her bag before letting the person outside in.
“Second Young Miss, here is your breakfast. The butler said that it’s inconvenient for you to come down to eat because of your leg injury, so he asked me to bring it up for you. Just put it on the table after you’re done eating. I’ll come in to collect it later.” The servant walked in with breakfast.
Ever since she had driven Aunt Liu away last time, the effect of killing the chicken to warn the monkeys seemed to be good. At least these servants no longer dared to contradict her to her face. Otherwise, things like personally bringing her breakfast would not happen.
“Just put it here.” He Miao looked at the table indifferently, and the servant immediately placed the tray on it.
Onion shrank timidly under the chair. It was only after the servant left that it came out again and jumped onto He Miao’s lap to ask for food.
He Miao smiled and rubbed its round belly. Seeing its pitiful look, she fed it some egg yolk.
Onion was not satisfied with getting so little food from its owner. It put its head on He Miao’s arm and stared at her with its round eyes.
Amused, He Miao rubbed its head. Afraid that it would be too stuffed, he poured some milk into the bottle cap for it to drink, just like last night.
Onion moved its wet nose and sniffed the air. Then it jumped to the ground.
He Miao thought it was strange. Looking at the little guy’s behavior last night, it clearly liked to drink it. Was it tired of milk?
She finished her breakfast thoughtfully and frowned at Onion, who was playing with a ball on the floor.
She did not know if this was just Onion’s personality, or if all dogs were like this, having completely different preferences during the day and at night.
The more she thought about it, the more she felt that something was amiss. He Miao stared at Onion, and a thought was about to burst out of her mind. It was as if she was only one step away from the truth, but there was a thin barrier between her and the truth, so blurry that she could not touch it.
“Second Young Miss, Young Master Jing is here to see you.”
He Miao raised her head in a daze and saw Jing Yan striding in with his long legs. He was wearing a casual suit and carrying a bag in his hand, looking very noble.
“Why are you standing there instead of recuperating with your injured leg?” Jing Yan frowned unhappily as he looked at the woman standing in the middle of the room, her hand on the edge of the table, seemingly doing something.
He Miao then realized that she had been so absorbed in thinking about Onion that she had forgotten about her leg injury. Now that he reminded her, she felt a sharp pain in her knee, and she gritted her teeth in pain.
Jing Yan picked up He Miao, who was in so much pain that she could not stand properly, shooed away Onion stuck to his feet, and dumped her onto the bed. His face was stern, as if he was here to collect a debt from He Miao.
He Miao furrowed her brows and looked at the stunned servant at the door. She rubbed the space between his brows in frustration. “Go out first and close the door.”
The servant came back to her senses and quickly hid the shock in her eyes. She closed the door and muttered in her heart. After thinking about it, she decided to tell the Young Miss about this.
The two of them were alone in a room, and they even wanted to close the door. It really was not a good thing!
He Miao waited for the others to leave before she picked up Onion that was thrown at her. She asked in confusion, “What are you doing here?”
Jing Yan sat on the edge of the bed with his eyebrows raised, his eyes fixed on the coquettish Onion in her arms. He gritted his teeth and said, “I’m here to see if your leg is crippled.”
