Chapter 152 - 152 Abnormality
“Grandpa!” He Miao clutched the old man’s hand, tears welling up in her eyes as she choked, “Grandpa, it’s great that you’re fine.”
“Don’t cry. Grandpa still wants to see you and Jing Yan get married.” Old Master Jing held her hand and asked, “Have you changed your opinion of Jing Yan during this period of time?”
“Grandpa.” He Miao knew what the old man was hoping for and could not bear to lie to him. “Jing Yan is very good to me. Although I’m not sure if I like him or not, I’m willing to try to get along with him.”
“That’s good.” Old Master Jing smiled in relief. He looked at the door and suddenly asked, “Where’s Jing Yan?”
“Grandpa, he’s having a fever. He’s getting an injection downstairs.” He Miao tucked in the Old Master’s blanket and asked with concern, “How do you feel now? If you’re not feeling well, I’ll call the doctor over.”
“No need,” Old Master Jing shook his head slightly and said with a kind smile, “I just wanted to talk to you. I thought my body was strong enough to last a few more years, but I didn’t expect that it wouldn’t listen to me and fell ill. I wanted to hand the company over to Jing Yan after he graduated from university, but I’m afraid that may be too late now.”
“Grandfather,” He Miao advised softly, “I don’t know what Jing Yan’s plan is, but I’m sure he can take care of the Jing family well. He won’t let you down.”
Old Master Jing smiled. “I know that he is capable and courageous. I am just worried that he will be too busy with work to have time to develop a relationship with you. I can see that he cares about you a lot. I wanted to stay with him for a little longer so that you two can get to know each other more.”
“Grandpa, there’s an old saying that if love lasts for a long time, it won’t be in the morning and evening. Don’t worry.” He Miao sighed and comforted her. “If I’m really fated to be with Jing Yan, even if we spend less time together in the future, we can still cultivate our feelings.”
“So you really don’t mind seeing Jing Yan?” Old Master Jing looked at her in surprise.
He Miao’s lips were pursed into a thin line. The tips of her ears were completely red, but her face was still calm. “He’s helped me a lot, and I still have a lot to pay him back. Of course, I won’t be against him.”
Although Old Master Jing had fallen ill, his mind was still sharp. Hearing He Miao’s words, he knew that the grudges in her heart had disappeared a long time ago. Also, judging from her expression, it was clear that she had feelings for Jing Yan. As long as the two of them spent more time together, they would definitely be able to get together.
This way, he could temporarily put his heart at ease.
Outside the ward, a woman in heavy makeup heard the conversation inside and knocked on the door with a dark expression.
He Miao got up to open the door, thinking that Jing Yan had returned. She wondered why he had finished his treatment so quickly, but before she could say anything, she was startled by the resentful gaze outside the ward.
“Miaomiao, I’m here to see Grandpa Jing.” He Wei walked past her expressionlessly and approached Old Master Jing with a face full of concern. “Grandpa, why did you suddenly become so sick? As soon as I heard the news, I immediately asked for leave from the film crew and rushed over.”
“I’m already fine.” Old Master Jing looked at He Miao, who was standing at the door, and patted the spot beside him.
However, He Wei took it as a greeting. She quickly sat by the bed and placed the various tonics and fruits on the table. “I didn’t know what you liked to eat, so I only picked these. If there’s anything you want to eat, you can tell me now and I’ll go buy it right away.”
“There’s no need to trouble yourself,” Old Master Jing continued to look in he Miao’s direction and said, “Miaomiao, since your sister is here, why don’t you go and see Jing Yan for me? I’m worried about him being alone downstairs.”
Why would Old Master Jing be worried about Jing Yan? He was only using He Wei’s presence as an excuse to let her spend more time with Jing Yan.
He Miao did not know whether to laugh or cry as she nodded. She turned around, closed the door, and took the elevator down to the first floor.
In the ward, the smile on He Wei’s face suddenly froze. She put down the hand that was holding the fruit in embarrassment. She bit her lower lip before she finally mustered the courage to ask, “Grandpa Jing, are you only sure that Miaomiao is your only granddaughter-in-law?”
Old Master Jing looked at her sternly. He had been in charge of the Jing family for his entire life, and even at the end of his life, he was still as imposing as ever.
He Wei calmed down from his stare and realized that she had said the wrong thing. She lowered her eyes and did not dare to look at him.
She was about to apologize when Old Master Jing chuckled and said, “Silly child. Of course, whoever Jing Yan is willing to marry will be my only granddaughter-in-law.”
